Why use Instagram and Twitter at a trade show?

Why use Instagram and Twitter at a trade show?

"How can I use Instagram and Twitter to leverage my current social media marketing and grow attendance at my event?" I hear you ask!

Well, you can use a #hashtag which is relevant to your event and industry, and use it in all photo descriptions on your social media. It's better if this matches your Twitter event #hashtag and is used repeatedly. This creates brand amplification online. The more incentives you provide to other people to use this hashtag, the better, as this will help to virally spread your brand and message online. You can now also include your most commonly used #hashtags in your profiles on Instagram and Twitter too!

Instagram has a new geo-tagging feature called, “Photo-map” which means that your guests can check into your event. Onsite, you can geo-tag the location and name each spot: “Pod 10”, “Hotel Lobby”, “Launch party - room 5” etc. to create a virtual tour of your event. It’s also a good idea to acknowledge exhibitors and attendees using your event #hashtag in order to build your network.

A good tip for creating user-generated content around your brand is to create photo opportunities at your trade show, this can be seen with a case study at Marketing Week Live. Attendees and exhibitors will take photos at your event and use your brand name as a hashtag, It is really beneficial to your online presence to have lots of positive user-generated content about your brand.
