How to use Instagram and Twitter at your work Christmas party?

How to use Instagram and Twitter at your work Christmas party?

Don’t want to use a traditional photographer at your work Christmas party or formal social? Instead Crowdsource Your Work Party Photos with Instagram…

For your team to be able to do this, follow these simple steps:

1. Download the Instagram and Twitter mobile apps on your smart phone device. For those not in the know, Instagram is a (free) social, photo sharing app. You can take pictures, add different flattering photo filters and share them with your friends. It’s like your Facebook news feed with pictures only. Twitter is generally more a place about text and thoughts but is also a good place to share your photos and videos.

2. Choose an event hashtag. Just like Twitter, Instagram groups pictures by using “hashtags.” For example, #Marketingparty2013 or #workpartyinNY. So if you were to search #Christmasparty 2013, you would find the photos from all of your guests. (Tip: before you begin, search for your chosen hashtag to make sure no one else is using it. The more specific it is, the better.

3. Stream the photos and videos (collected with the hashtag) whilst at the event in real time. This way, everyone can share each others photos at the event whilst increasing searchability of your brand.

Have an amazing Christmas party - from the Eventstagram team :D

How to use Instagram & Twitter at your wedding?

How to use technology at your wedding?

Before the special day, many tech-savvy couples send out electronic invites and also create a dedicated website with all the details of their wedding. Many prospective newlyweds are also using Pinterest to put together concept ideas.

Once the big day arrives, it can be a good idea to create a specific hashtag for your wedding. These can be used on Instagram, Vine and Twitter. They help to make the photos and videos of your wedding from family and friend's much easier to find.

Many couples are also using a service such as Eventstagr.am, to collate all of these photos onto a large screen or through a projector, so that they can be seen by everyone at the wedding.

These Instagram and Twitter photos can be shared through a web-widget on the dedicated website or viewed by everyone after the event. Special books are available with all of the Instagram and twitter photos inside and facebook photo albums can be made too.

Why use Instagram and Vine videos at a festival?

Why use Instagram and Vine videos at a festival?

Using Instagram and Vine videos at a festival is the perfect way to increase the exposure of the event for the following five reasons:

1. You can market the festival with one #hashtag to thousands of friends, fans and followers of your current demographic on social media. This is a brilliant way to focus marketing efforts on a very specific target market.

2. You can use a photo prop like NME Magazine did with Instagram at Reading and Leeds fesivals to encourage more user-generated content around your brand! #NMExpressYourself

3. You can have sneak previews of bands and artists so that you can hone in on their online Instagram and Twitter followers, they will most likely want to follow you for more Instagram sneak previews!

4. Instagram and vine competitions can be ran to build excitement and audience engagement online. Winners, for example, could gain free weekend passes to the festival. Vine and Instagram videos can be submitted by tweeting entries using a specific #hashtag!

5. You can make awesome blogs about the social media at your festival afterwards like this one for Electric Zoo!

How to use Instagram and Twitter at events in Universities

How to use Instagram and Twitter at events in Universities

Using an Instagram and Twitter live feed for a nation-wide event is a great idea as can be seen at APCA’s (The Association of Campus Activities) recent conference, held in Houston. When people come together from all over the USA (or any country) and share images and video on Instagram and Twitter with a specific #hashtag, this allows these images to gain a very precise target market back in the specific cities of the guests, particularly within one segment of an industry.

However a live social media feed using Instagram and Twitter photos and videos is of course a perfect addition to any campus marketing campaign. Students are avid users of social media. Universities should be encouraging students to interact with their brand online through photo opportunities or competitions. This is a great way to connect with students and amplify the universities brand online.

The university of Monterrey recently celebrated their 70th anniversary in a magnificent way with their students as can be seen here.

This is of course also very beneficial for connecting your brand with future student talent pools on campus during a recruitment drive.

Why is it important to make your events experiential?

Why is it important to make your events experiential?

There are many reasons why it’s important to make your events experiential, but here are a few:

  • Experiential marketing is memorable and generates brand recognition. If a potential has interacted with your hashtag through one of their social media channels, they are much more likely to be loyal to your brand.
  • Using social media at your experiential event allows users to generate content about your brand and interact with you online.

  • Using social media such as Instagram, Twitter or Vine is a low-cost way to launch a new product to a much larger audience. The total outreach of people tweeting and Instagramming about your new product (at a launch party for example) will have be much greater by involving future customers
  • Experiential marketing with social media enables you to utilise everyone who is talking about your brand online as a brand representative.

  • Competitions on platforms such as Instagram or Vine can provide perfect opportunities to capture customer information and give the ability to communicate with them after the event.
  • When done properly, experiential marketing can encourage customer trial.

O2 Think Big & Eventstagram

O2 Think Big & their CSR Live Social Media Feed

During October, Eventstagram was able to get involved with the brilliant initiative, O2 Think Big. This project is all about supporting people & the planet by working together and encouraging fresh ideas on how everyone can improve the world around us.

O2 decided on having a national Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) day where all their staff got involved and decided to #BeMore Good for a day! O2 staff documented their good deeds throughout the day on Instagram and Twitter and then shared this across all of the O2 offices nationally with a live Instagram and Twitter feed. This feed was also updated during the day in a number of O2 shops across the country.

Here is a screenshot of the real-time social media feed that was displayed in the offices. It was completely branded up with O2 Think Big's designs. There was also a live counter of how many good deeds had been uploaded with the hashtag #BeMore.

Alongside the white label design completed for this big CSR day, Eventstagram also designed a live web widget so that all of the internal call center staff could see the photos too. O2 ran a competition with their north and south offices of who could complete the most good deeds of the day. This type of initiative is also perfect for employer branding campaigns, particularly when on a recruitment round.

Here is a screengrab of the live web widget.

A video surrounding the O2 Go Think Big campaign, aimed at helping young people can also be found here!
